The chocolate pears are a delicate and tasty seasonal dessert that I must say I really liked because… well, the combination is definitely satisfying, as is known eh eh!

The biggest problem, if so it can be called, was removing the core from the bottom of the pear without breaking it, but with a little care, I managed!

Key to this small sweet preparation is working with quality products, ripe but firm fruit, and a high-quality dark chocolate!

The sliced almonds MAYBE I should have toasted them, but I assure you that the crunchiness and the different texture are still there, but it’s up to you whether to do it or not!

I have plenty of recipes with pears on the blog because my son Andrea eats almost no other fruit, and I’ve made him many cakes, leaving you some recipes, should you also have a child in love with pears eh eh!

chocolate pears
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 2 Kaiser pears
  • 4.4 oz sugar
  • 1/2 pod vanilla
  • 2.8 oz dark chocolate (high quality)
  • 1 tbsp sliced almonds
  • 2 tbsps milk (to be added to melted chocolate for a softer coating)

Tools

#ADV

  • Peeler
  • High-sided Saucepans
  • Microwaves
  • Apple Corer

Steps

  • 1) Wash the pears and with a peeler remove the skin leaving the stem intact.

    2) With the apple corer, carefully remove the woody inner part and seeds of the Kaiser (or Abate, let’s not get hung up on the variety) pear, possibly using a small knife as well!

    3) In a high-sided saucepan, put the sugar and the opened vanilla pod to let the seeds spread into the liquid, flavoring it.

    4) Now add the pears so that they are completely covered and gently bring everything to a boil over a low flame.

    5) Cook the pears, turning them for even cooking in this vanilla syrup for about twenty minutes (Before taking them out and letting them cool, test the cooking by piercing them with a toothpick, okay?)

    6) Remove the cooked pears and place them on a rack to cool or on a plate.

    7) Meanwhile, roughly chop the dark chocolate and melt it in the microwave in short intervals to avoid burning the chocolate.

    8) Add a little liquid, either milk or cream, to better dissolve it and make the chocolate sauce more fluid.

    9) Arrange the plates for my guests by placing a pear and adding a little of the shiny, glossy chocolate sauce, then sprinkle everything with the sliced almonds.

    10) I indicated 4 servings because chocolate is rich and we don’t want an overly sweet dessert, but I must confess I proudly and happily ate a whole one ah ah!

I honestly don’t know if a “fruit dessert” would appeal to you, but in this season, I think it could be a pleasant idea, also because the pears can be prepared in advance and topped with the chocolate sauce only when it’s time to serve the dessert!
    Enjoy your meal!

1) Instead of milk, we can add a few tablespoons of fresh liquid cream to the warm melted chocolate, then mix well this kind of ganache and use this sauce to coat the cooked pears… Do as you prefer, eh eh!
