Chocolate Rolled Cake

Browsing the web on this blog, I found the recipe for this delicious chocolate rolled cake, a rectangle of shortcrust pastry well filled with chocolate cream and then rolled and baked for a truly mouthwatering dessert!

I must say that maybe I put too many slices in this rustic cake, it’s not really precise, but it’s a minor flaw… what do you think??

The cake with chocolate is a breakfast dessert, but if you prefer to make filled cookies, bake only the slices well spaced from each other on the baking tray just long enough for the shortcrust pastry to become golden!

Ingredients CHOCOLATE ROLLED CAKE RECIPE

  • 4 cups Flour
  • 5 tbsps Butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.5 cup Sugar
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • as needed hazelnut and chocolate cream (I use Nutella)
  • as needed chocolate chips (optional)

Preparation CHOCOLATE ROLLED CAKE RECIPE

  • To prepare the recipe for the shortcrust cake with chocolate heart….

    In the mixer, mix the flour with the softened butter.

    Then add the sugar, eggs, milk, and baking powder.

    Once you get a dough, stop the machine and transfer the mixture onto a work surface.

  • Sprinkle it with a little flour and with a rolling pin form a rectangle about 0.4 inches thick.

  • Cover the rolled-out shortcrust layer with hazelnut and chocolate cream, then roll it up from the longer side.

  • Sprinkle it with a little flour and with a rolling pin form a rectangle about 0.4 inches thick.

  • Cut slices about 0.8 inches thick and place them at the bottom of a lightly buttered and floured bundt cake pan.

  • Arrange the slices overlapping each other and complete the circle of the chocolate rolled cake

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F and cook for about 30/35 minutes, depending on your appliance’s characteristics.

  • Once the CHOCOLATE ROLLED CAKE is golden and well-cooked, let it cool, then serve it just sprinkled with powdered sugar.
