It’s Carnival time, the time of year when Italian tradition is filled with simple and delicious fried or frittered sweets, made at home with few ingredients and from countless regional variations. Laciaditt are part of this tradition: rustic, quick sweets linked to the cuisine of bygone days.
Laciaditt are a typical dessert from Northern Italy, particularly Lombardy especially Milan, where they were mainly prepared during winter and Carnival, using apples, flour, and eggs, ingredients always available in the pantry.
The name laciaditt means “finger-licking” in Milanese dialect and indeed after tasting these apple fritters, you’ll feel like doing just that! They are simple but hearty sweets, created to warm and energize, now reinterpreted in a lighter version thanks to cooking in an air fryer.
The cinnamon and apple laciaditt cook in 8-10 minutes in an air fryer, remain super soft, and are truly delicious, ideal for Carnival time or a quick homemade snack!
I made them before dinner and snapped them quickly with kitchen lighting because they were too good to wait until tomorrow and indeed…they were gone in a flash!
AFTER TASTE TIPS
– they are not very sweet so…
– I used the apples I had at home, Golden, but perhaps a more tart variety would be better
– they are soft, soft, and delicious even on their own… but if we really want to enjoy them to the fullest, serve them with English cream: bliss!
EXTRA TIP
I passed the recipe to my sister Annacarla and she, due to lack of time, put all the batter in a cake tin: thus our laciaditt cake was born, simple and delicious!

I leave you with more recipes on the Carnival theme just below:
- Difficulty: Very Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 4 People
- Cooking methods: Air Frying
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Carnival
Ingredients
- 1 lemon
- 2 apples (or 3)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- as needed spray oil (spray for the fryer, I use Friol)
- as needed powdered sugar
Tools
- Air Fryers
- Air Fryer Paper Liners
Steps
Wash, core, and peel the chosen apples, cut them into pieces and drizzle with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
In a bowl, beat the egg with the sugar, then add the milk, sifted flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and apple cubes, mixing well until you get a homogeneous mixture.
Spoon the batter into the basket of the air fryer (or on the grill), lined with parchment paper.
Spray well with spray oil and cook for 8-10 minutes at 356°F, turning these apple and cinnamon fritters after 3-4 minutes.
I confess I didn’t turn anything and they cooked perfectly… you experiment as you like! 😄When they are nice and fluffy and golden, remove them, sprinkle the Milanese laciaditt with powdered sugar and… yum yum!
Bon appétit and happy Carnival! Annalisa
