Cinnamon and Apple Laciaditt in Air Fryer (Quick Fritters)

We are in the Carnival period, the time of the year when Italian tradition is filled with simple and delicious fried or frittered sweets, homemade with a few ingredients and thousands of regional variations. The laciaditt are exactly part of this lineup: rustic, quick sweets tied to old-time cooking.

The laciaditt are a typical dessert from Northern Italy, particularly Lombardy, especially Milan, where they were primarily prepared during winter and Carnival, using apples, flour, and eggs, ingredients always available in the pantry.

The name laciaditt means “finger licker” in Milanese dialect, and indeed after tasting these apple fritters, you’ll definitely want to do just that! They are simple but hearty sweets, created to warm and energize, now reimagined in a lighter version thanks to air frying.

The cinnamon and apple laciaditt can be cooked in 8-10 minutes in an air fryer, remain super fluffy, and are truly delicious, ideal for the Carnival period or for a quick homemade snack!

I made them before dinner and snapped a quick photo in the kitchen light because they were too good to wait until tomorrow and indeed….they were gone in a flash!

ADVICE AFTER TASTING
– they are not very sweet, so…
– I used the apples I had at home, the Golden variety, but perhaps a more tart variety would be better
– they are soft, soft, and delicious even on their own… but if we really want to enjoy them to the fullest, serve them with the English cream: bliss!

Cinnamon and Apple Laciaditt
  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 People
  • Cooking methods: Air Frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Carnival

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon
  • 2 apples (or 3)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • to taste spray oil (spray for the fryer, I use Friol)
  • to taste powdered sugar

Tools

  • Air Fryers
  • Air Fryer Liners

Steps

  • Wash, core, and peel the chosen apples, cut them into pieces, and sprinkle them with lemon juice to prevent browning.

In a bowl, beat the egg with sugar, then add the milk, sifted flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and apple cubes, mixing well until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.

  • Spoon the batter into the basket of the air fryer (or on the grill), lined with parchment paper.
Spray well with oil spray and cook for 8-10 minutes at 350°F, turning these apple and cinnamon fritters after 3-4 minutes.
I confess that I didn’t turn anything and they cooked perfectly… you experiment as you like! 😄

  • When they are nice and puffy and golden, remove them, sprinkle the Milanese laciaditt with powdered sugar and … yum yum!

    Enjoy and happy Carnival! Annalisa
