This recipe for curried shrimp is delicious!! Yes, you might say, Annalisa is singing her own praises today, but are we sure she’s not exaggerating?? Well, those who have been reading me for a long time—it’s been 5 years now with this beloved blog of mine—know that I don’t talk nonsense about the goodness of dishes unless I’m truly convinced, and this unique dish, curried shrimp served with Basmati rice, was devoured, savored, and enjoyed by me the other evening, and I was fascinated by it!

Premise that I like spices and among these also curry I also love shellfish, and here we find an easy, quick dish perfect for our summer dinners!

The curried shrimp is a successful dish that combines the sweet and pleasant taste of shellfish like shrimp with a spice like curry, and everything is enhanced and balanced by Basmati rice, a rice with elongated grains widely used for exotic and spicy preparations!

Speaking of spices, The taste of foods can be summarized as salty, sweet, sour or acidic, bitter, spicy, and umami.

These 6 categories group all the fundamental flavors existing in the world, and even spices can be divided into groups according to the taste they release, such as:
sweet like vanilla, cinnamon, mace, and more;
sour or acidic like cumin, nutmeg, cardamom, and more;
bitter like nigella, turmeric, cloves, and more;
salty like…no spice has this aroma;
umami like only smoked paprika,
spicy like chili, Guinea pepper, paprika, and more.

CURRIED SHRIMP

Curried Shrimp
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Medium
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 people
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Indian

Ingredients RECIPE CURRIED SHRIMP

  • 1.1 lbs shrimp tails
  • 1 cup Tomato puree
  • 3 tbsps Butter
  • 3 tsps curry
  • 1 onion (not red)
  • 2 tbsps cooking cream
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper (white preferred)

Tools RECIPE CURRIED SHRIMP

  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Mixer

Preparation RECIPE CURRIED SHRIMP

  • Remove the shell leaving the shrimp tails.

    Remove the intestinal vein and wash the shellfish thoroughly under running water.

    In a pan that holds all the ingredients, melt the butter over low heat.

  • Add the finely chopped onion and let it brown over low heat.

    Add the curry and mix the ingredients well.

    Pour in the tomato puree and season with salt and pepper.

  • Cook for 6/7 minutes, add the shrimp.

    Add the cream.

    Continue for 3/4 minutes and complete the cooking.

  • If you want to make it a unique dish, boil a handful of Basmati rice per person and serve the two preparations at the table.
