Delicious dessert with apples and sour cherries, a soft cake with a unique combination for a dense yet airy and soft batter, resulting in a scrumptious treat, suitable for breakfast but also as a dessert to serve at the end of a meal.
The pairing is intriguing because the apples (Golden for me) are delicate while the sour cherries add that tempting touch to the cake!
If you want, you can also add some organic lemon zest to the batter and use apples with a bit more zing, like the Renetta apples for a more aromatic and tangy flavor!
As you can see from the photos I took, the soft batter has incorporated some of the apple slices and syrup-packed sour cherries eh eh!

- 4 medium eggs (for me Le naturelle yellow pasta)
- 5.3 oz butter (at room temperature)
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 30 syrup-packed sour cherries (for me Fabbri)
- 12 g instant baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for me Pane degli Angeli)
- 4 apples (Golden for me)
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 lemon (organic or untreated)
- to taste powdered sugar (for decoration and optional)

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE DELICIOUS DESSERT WITH APPLES AND SOUR CHERRIES RECIPE
Wash, core, and peel the apples, then slice them and place them in a bowl with lemon juice and water.
In a bowl, using electric beaters, cream the soft butter with the sugar until you get a light mixture.
Then add the egg yolks, and when they are well combined with the previous mixture, also add the sifted flour with the instant baking powder.
Now add the liquid vanilla extract and finally the egg whites beaten until stiff.
Pour the batter into the buttered and floured pan, leveling it well.
Now arrange the sliced apples well drained, arranging them in a concentric pattern or … as you like!
Also add the syrup-packed sour cherries which I personally drained slightly from the syrup they are preserved in.
Then I distributed them here and there on the surface of the apple cake.
Now put it in the oven preheated to 356°F static oven as for almost all the desserts on the blog and let it bake for about 45 minutes.
After 30 – 35 minutes or so, I opened the oven and saw that the center of the cake was still too soft so I put a sheet of parchment paper to finish the cooking of the Delicious Dessert with Apples and Sour Cherries.
Once baked, take it out of the oven and let it cool, preferably on a cooling rack.
Dust with powdered sugar and then serve at the table!
