A new very easy appetizer that can be prepared in advance, this filled piadina rose for appetizer, a simple homemade dish!
I used cream cheese but we can use robiola and mascarpone, then I layered the slices of cooked ham which we can substitute with thin, more flavorful slices of speck, and finally I added some slices of scamorza cheese that can be replaced with thin slices of provolone or mozzarella.
Every time I see similar recipes, I think about the taste of the ingredients but also the practicality of eating them because sometimes they are beautiful proposals but then the sauce drips on you and you get your hands dirty, which is a bad thing, so…. For these piadina floral skewers, although you can eat them in bites, it’s perhaps better to remove them from the skewer and eat them as finger food: I assure you nothing drips and you don’t get dirty at all!
There is no oil or any other fat or sauce that can drip and stain your face and clothes, the cherry tomato is small and can be eaten in one bite!
The piadina can crack a little when rolled, but it still remains a manageable roll with fingers without any problems, trust me, but of course we need to be a bit careful.

- 1 piadina (Romagnola)
- 2.1 oz cream cheese
- 1.4 oz cooked ham
- 2 slices scamorza cheese (cut in half)
- 4 cherry tomatoes
- a few mixed salad leaves
- a few carrot slices

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE FILLED PIADINA ROSE recipe for appetizer
very simply, I place a piadina on a clean surface and spread the cream cheese over it
then I add the slices of cooked ham
and cut slices of about 1.5 inches as you see in the photo.
I cut the scamorza cheese slices in half and arrange them to stick out from the piadina rose strip.
At this point, I roll the filled slice of Romagnola piadina and skewer it on a long enough skewer because
it can hold two or three salad leaves to taste and a cherry tomato.
Cover with plastic wrap until ready to serve!
