Ginger Lemon Honey Lozenges for Sore Throat

Ginger Lemon and Honey Lozenges for Sore Throat …given the coming winter (yesterday in Bologna it rained for hours and hours) I thought of making these candies with naturally anti-inflammatory and soothing ingredients suitable for relieving the first ailments of the season. However, before making them, I invite you to tell your doctor because we are not all the same, and I care about you!

The ingredients have excellent properties, such as lemon providing vitamin C, honey is a natural antibacterial, which loses some of its properties when cooked, but is an excellent soothing agent for throat irritations and, if thyme honey is used, it’s also effective against cough. Ginger is anti-inflammatory and an immune system booster.

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE GINGER LEMON HONEY LOZENGES FOR SORE THROAT

  • 1) First, mix the powders where you will later pour the throat lozenge liquid and spread it on a surface leveling well. With the cap of a water or soda bottle, make many imprints on the sugar and cornstarch mix and continue with the preparation.

    2) In a saucepan, put the light brown sugar, water, the tablespoon of lemon juice, and thyme honey.

    3) Also add the ginger powder and mix well with a spatula or clean spoon.

    4) Continue to thicken everything and at boiling point, lower the heat and continue for about 15/20 minutes. Now test the consistency of the throat lozenges by putting a drop of the boiling mixture in a glass of water, and if it solidifies instantly, it’s ready!

  • 5) With a spoon, pour a bit of anti-sore throat mixture with ginger honey and lemon into the imprints and continue until the mixture is finished.

    6) My anti-sore throat candies might be a bit thin… as always, you decide if you want them thick or thin!

    7) Let everything cool well, then mix and maybe pass the homemade sore throat lozenges through a sieve to remove most of the powders, and there you go! The ginger lemon and honey lozenges for sore throat are ready!

    8) Keep them in an airtight jar and fingers crossed… BONNE SANTÉ!
