A romantic dessert, very quick yet elegant and modern, perfect for Valentine’s Day or a special dinner. This heart-shaped puff pastry mille-feuille is a simple yet spectacular dessert: crunchy layers of shortcrust pastry alternate with a soft and delicate cream, creating an irresistible contrast between crunchiness and creaminess. It’s a single-serving dessert that looks like it came from a restaurant, but is made with few ingredients and without complications. Perfect when you want to impress without stress, don’t you think?

If you prefer another dessert to celebrate this day, here are some ideas just below:
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Economical
- Rest time: 5 Minutes
- Preparation time: 5 Minutes
- Portions: 1 Person
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Valentine's Day
Ingredients
- 1 package shortcrust pastry
- 2/3 cup heavy cream, 35% fat
- 2.5 oz mascarpone
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar (plus a little before serving)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (or organic lemon zest to taste)
- 1 strawberry
Tools
- Cutters
- Piping Bags
- Plain Nozzles
Steps
Cut 6 hearts from the prepared shortcrust pastry sheet.
Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then bake at 340°F for about 12/15 minutes, but as always, be careful because the pastry browns very quickly!
Let them cool, and in the meantime prepare the white filling cream by blending the fresh whipping cream with mascarpone and powdered sugar using an electric mixer.
With the cold shortcrust hearts, proceed by inserting the cream into a piping bag with a small plain nozzle and fill with small dollops of cream, covering first one cookie, then stacking the second, filling again, and closing the single-serving dessert for Valentine’s Day with the third shortcrust heart.
I dusted with powdered sugar, placed a small dollop of filling in the center, and placed half a strawberry, leaving the green stem.
Here is a quick, cute, delicious treat to celebrate lovers’ day on February 14th!
Of course, we can prepare the cookies in advance and assemble everything just before our romantic encounter!
Best wishes and… enjoy your meal!
Annalisa
