Just a ripe melon (today I bought an organic melon), a light syrup of water and sugar, a few drops of lemon, and a few minutes on the stove to get a delicious and colorful result.
How to consume this typical summer preserve?
The syrup melon is great served naturally, with ice cream or yogurt, but also as an ingredient for spoon desserts, pies, and cold desserts.

- 1.65 lbs melon
- 2.11 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 lemon (juice only)

Just a few minutes to prepare this summer preserve
Peel the melon, remove the seeds with a spoon, and cut the flesh into pieces of about 1 inch.
In a saucepan, bring water with sugar and lemon juice to a boil, letting the syrup simmer for 2/3 minutes.
Place the melon pieces in already sanitized and sterilized jars.
Pour the boiling syrup over the fruit, leaving 1 cm from the jar’s edge.
Seal hermetically and sterilize the jars with homemade syrup melon.
Let the various airtight containers rest away from light sources for a month before consuming the summer melon preserve with sugar water and lemon juice syrup.
