Honey and Thyme Tomatoes in Air Fryer

Tomatoes are the stars of summer, and every year I look for new ways to enhance them in the kitchen. Today I propose these honey and thyme tomatoes cooked in an air fryer, a fragrant, simple, and truly surprising side dish.
The combination of the sweetness of honey and the fresh aroma of thyme transforms the tomatoes into a delicate and flavorful dish, perfect to serve with fresh cheeses like burrata or juicy buffalo mozzarella, crostini, or alongside light main courses.


For this recipe, you can use:
– classic round tomatoes,
– ribbed ones for a more rustic version,
– or those I used, the beefsteak tomatoes, which are meatier and juicier.
Cooking them in an air fryer saves time, avoids turning on the oven, and still achieves perfect caramelization in less than 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 tomatoes (ripe and firm)
  • 2 teaspoons wildflower honey
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (or balsamic if desired)
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Few Steps for Juicy Tomatoes

  • Cut the tomatoes in half and place them on a plate with the cut side up.

  • In a small bowl, mix:
    – honey
    – vinegar
    – 2 tablespoons of oil
    – a pinch of salt and pepper.

    Pour the sauce over each tomato and add a few leaves of fresh thyme.

  • Gently transfer the seasoned tomato halves into the air fryer basket (I chose to put perforated parchment paper on the bottom).

  • Cook at 392°F for 12-15 minutes, always checking the cooking level: they should become soft and slightly caramelized.
