MARINATED MOZZARELLA

A simple and quick idea except for the marination, to add other easy and appetizing preparations to the savory appetizer buffet.

The marinated mozzarella is as basic as it gets, and you can adjust the addition of herbs by increasing the amount of your preferred aroma.

I’ve added some chopped dry chili pepper which goes wonderfully with mozzarella which has a “mild” flavor, so to speak haha.

The mozzarella is the 3rd most appreciated cheese abroad after, in order, Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano!

The mozzarella has quite a few calories and should be eaten in moderation with about 280 calories per 100 grams of product, and the cow’s milk version has fewer calories than the buffalo one.

To these marinade ingredients you can also add, in my opinion, chopped olives, sun-dried tomatoes in oil, capers, etc. etc.

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE MARINATED MOZZARELLA RECIPE

  • Wash and chop the selected herbs, namely basil, chives, and parsley.

Put all these fresh herbs in a bowl then add a tiny bit (at least for me) of garlic, maybe using a garlic press, just to get a hint of aroma.

  • Open the block package of mozzarella and cut it into chunks, then pour everything into the bowl with the added herbs.

  • Crush the dry chili with your fingers, preferably wearing disposable gloves, and sprinkle the mozzarella pieces with this pleasant spice.

  • Season the marinated mozzarella with extra virgin olive oil and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper.

Mix well to distribute the different aromas, cover with plastic wrap, and let it sit in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

  • After the marination time, let it sit at room temperature for about ten minutes before serving.

Simple, quick, and tasty, here’s an appetizer you can make in advance, and which, fresh and flavorful, will surely please your guests.

    Enjoy your meal!
