Melted Polenta Stars

A silly savory recipe for the melted polenta stars which are a starter, a side dish to a simple meat or fish dish, to prepare in advance and let melt in the oven while setting the table.

For this “recipe,” I took a block of ready-made polenta and used cookie cutters to make stars of different sizes, which I layered with cheese I had in the fridge. It could be provolone, galbanino, gorgonzola, scamorza, or whatever you have excess of and that melts!

I didn’t add the so-called “crunchy note,” but walnuts or some almond flakes would go well!

If you use the ready block, there will be scraps that we can use to make this polenta cake Seasoned polenta flatbread

Still on the star-shaped recipe theme, here are some more ideas just below:

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

INGREDIENTS

  • to taste cooked polenta
  • to taste cheese (scamorza, provola, galbanino)
  • to taste chives

TOOLS

  • Baking Pans
  • Parchment Paper
  • Molds
  • Knives

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE MELTED POLENTA STARS RECIPE

  • I prepare the polenta following the package instructions or more quickly cut many stars from the ready-made polenta block found at the supermarket, in the deli section.

  • I make two or even three star shapes of different sizes and place the largest one on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Then I arrange some pieces of melting cheese and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

  • I add the slightly smaller star and continue like this, ending with some sprigs of chives for flavor and that extra touch to the final taste.

I bake at 375/390°F for a few minutes, just enough time to heat and melt everything.

    A simple pleasure to eat…

    Enjoy your meal! Annalisa

P.S. If you want to make the aroma less basic, add a grain of pink pepper, and you’ll feel that pleasant explosion of flavor!

P.P.S. If you want to make it a side dish, use a shooting star mold, so it’s chunkier, okay? A smile, even in the kitchen
