The moussaka is a delicious dish typical of Greek and Balkan cuisine in general, made with eggplants, ground meat, tomatoes, and béchamel. The moussaka tower is a simple dish great for all seasons, served hot or at room temperature, which I preferred to make as individual servings, but you can clearly prepare a tray of moussaka for all diners following the recipe. Let’s skip the chatter and get into the kitchen to prepare the moussaka tower that I am sure will enliven your dinners and summer lunches…

Preparation Moussaka Tower Recipe
Slice the eggplants, sprinkle them with salt, and let them rest in a covered strainer. Sauté the chopped onion in extra virgin olive oil. Then add the ground meat, diced tomatoes, and crushed garlic which you will remove later.
Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and let cook for about 20/25 minutes, adding water if the mixture becomes too dry.
After resting, wash and dry the eggplant slices.
Dredge them in flour and fry in hot oil.
Drain them on a paper towel and preheat the oven to 392°F.
Prepare the moussaka towers by placing a first slice of eggplant, then adding the seasoned meat, another slice of eggplant, then meat, and finishing with the vegetable.
Add the béchamel and bake for about 20 minutes.
Before serving the moussaka tower, add a basil leaf and a little ground cinnamon. Simple and very tasty, here is a recipe from the delicious Greek tradition: the moussaka tower!
Enjoy your meal!
