Orange and Almond Truffles

Orange and Almond Truffles are easy and quick treats that require a bit of resting time to let the bites stay creamy and delightful!

Truffles are a kind of chocolates often in the classic round shape, more or less chubby.

How many types of truffles can you make? Considering that you can make both savory and sweet truffles, the possibilities are endless!

They require no cooking or, generally, the only cooking is melting the dark chocolate or white chocolate that is then mixed with butter, eggs, and many other flavors and foods to compact everything into these exquisite balls!

Orange and Almond Truffles
  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Inexpensive
  • Rest time: 2 Hours
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: About 20 truffles
  • Cooking methods: No cooking
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 9 oz blanched almonds
  • 5.3 oz sugar (+ 2/3 tablespoons for the final step)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 oranges (grated zest of organic or untreated oranges)

Tools

  • Grater
  • Citrus Juicer

Recipe Preparation: Orange and Almond Truffles

  • To prepare the orange and almond truffles, just blend the blanched almonds until they become flour, adding a little sugar to absorb the oil that will come out from grinding the nuts.

If you have almond flour available, feel free to use it: the truffle will result in a smoother, melt-in-your-mouth mixture!

  • Add the grated zest and the amount of juice and mix the ingredients well.

  • Place a couple of tablespoons of sugar on a small plate and start making many balls that we will roll in sugar to completely coat them.

In my pantry, I only had ultra-fine sugar, but perhaps it would have been better to use regular granulated sugar because the sugar grains would have been more visible and prettier to the eye… But it’s just my totally superfluous thought ^_^!

  • We place the orange and almond truffles in the fridge to compact the treats further and then serve them with tea or coffee or as a simple and fragrant end to a meal!

    Enjoy your meal!
