Puff Pastry and Sausage Twists

The puff pastry and sausage twists are the result of an expiring package of puff pastry and sausages that no one really wanted to eat alone on the grill or in the pan, and I must say this little recipe was appreciated and eaten with a nice cold beer as a savory appetizer.

I thought especially for aesthetic reasons if I can say so, to decorate with white sesame seeds and poppy seeds that I always have in the pantry after brushing each filled twist with a beaten egg.

Ingredients RECIPE Puff Pastry and Sausage Twists

  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 2 pure pork sausages, raw
  • 1 pasteurized egg yolk
  • to taste sesame seeds
  • to taste poppy seeds

  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 Baking tray
  • 1 Scissors

Steps

  • 1) I simply unroll the puff pastry on a surface, keeping the parchment paper included in the package, and place the 2 sausages, then wrap them entirely with the puff pastry, sealing both ends.

    2) With scissors I use only for the kitchen, I make cuts on the surface at the same distance, then force the slices by shifting one to the right and the other to the left for both sausage rolls.

    3) I brush the twists with the beaten egg yolk and then add sesame seeds and poppy seeds.

    4) Now I bake these puff pastry and sausage snacks in a preheated oven at 375°F, leaving them to cook until golden, about 20/25 minutes.

    5) Ready quite quickly and tasty, here’s an easy and economical appetizer, the puff pastry and sausage twists!

1) It’s a foolproof recipe and we can decorate it with white and black sesame seeds but also linseeds or pistachio and/or hazelnut bits.

2) We can use chicken sausages, pork ones… large and/or small, it always depends on personal taste and whether you prefer making single-serving puff pastry twists or sharing a larger portion among all diners.
3) Instead of puff pastry, we can also use a ready pizza base or focaccia base.
