After many little recipes shaped like trees, here’s a puff pastry Christmas star for an appetizer that’s easy to make and can be varied in many ways!
Personally, my Christmas star with ready-made puff pastry was a fridge-clearing recipe because I used some cooked ham that Andrea didn’t want to eat, a leftover piece of Emmental from some pan-fried pork rolls, and some pecorino which was the star of a gricia pasta dish last night.
If you prefer, you can use some herb cream cheese which we can find ready-made or we can prepare by adding a nice chop of basil and parsley and mixing the compound well.
If we want a puff pastry star with fish, we can also, after spreading the pastry with cheese like Philadelphia, add slices of smoked salmon, which at this time of year is as common as desserts, because it’s tasty and we find packages also at a good price and super offer!
P.S. THE PHOTO OF THE COOKED CHRISTMAS PUFF PASTRY STAR IS REALLY SC… sorry!

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE PUFF PASTRY CHRISTMAS STAR APPETIZER RECIPE
it’s quite simple.
I unroll the package of ready-made puff pastry onto a surface.
I arrange the slices of cooked ham trying to cover the most puff pastry possible.
I add the chosen cheese, and I had some shredded Emmental julienne, then I add the grated cheese and a few sprigs of arugula randomly.
I roll it tightly to avoid losing the grated cheese (which I’ll sprinkle on top of the already formed star in the mold) and cut slices about a finger’s width (just over a centimeter perhaps).
I arrange these rolls of stuffed puff pastry starting from the center of the star-shaped cardboard mold and then proceeding towards the outer edges.
Once the entire surface is covered, I beat the egg in a glass and brush it over the puff pastry CHRISTMAS star and then bake at 375°F for about 30 minutes or according to the characteristics of our home oven.
Once it’s slightly warm, I serve it at the table with a glass of sparkling wine and…
Enjoy your meal! Annalisa
