Last-minute recipe with an expiring package of rectangular puff pastry and here is the quick apple braid, a strudel-like dessert that’s very rapid and delicious with lots of good apples, raisins, and pine nuts!

I added sugar sprinkles on top, wetting the surface with water because I didn’t even have an egg in the fridge, but nonetheless, this quick dessert is very tasty!

QUICK APPLE BRAID

Apple puff pastry braid

Ingredients QUICK APPLE BRAID RECIPE

  • 1 Puff Pastry (rectangular)
  • 3 apples (I used Golden and 3/4 apples)
  • as needed Butter
  • 2 tablespoons pine nuts
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Dark Rum
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Preparation Quick Apple Braid Recipe

  • Wash, peel, core the apples and cut them into not too small pieces.

    Pour the rum in a glass, leaving the raisins to soak.

    Put the apple pieces in a non-stick pan with a small piece of butter already melted.

  • Over moderate heat, add the sugar and the pine nuts.

    Keep cooking the apple pieces, stirring so that the fruit becomes tender but does not stick to the bottom. If necessary, add a couple of tablespoons of water.

  • After 4/5 minutes, add the raisins drained from the rum and patted dry with a paper towel.

    Leave it on the heat for a few more minutes, then turn it off and let the mixture cool for the easy strudel with puff pastry.

  • Unroll the package of puff pastry, keeping the parchment paper it comes with.

    Cut the puff pastry as indicated in this article then arrange the fruit in the center and close the quick apple braid by intertwining the edges alongside the fruit.

  • Brush the braid with fruit with water, sprinkle with sugar sprinkles, and bake the almost apple strudel braid at 375°F (190°C) for about 40 minutes or depending on your oven characteristics. Let it cool then … yum yum with the quick apple braid!!!

Tips and Notes

Instead of the breadcrumbs placed at the bottom of the easy and quick braid before pouring the apples, you can put crumbled amaretti which I find pair very well with raisins, pine nuts, and apple.
