Quick Savory Crown

Today I offer you a quick savory crown designed as an accompaniment to savory dips and mousse for appetizers, which I read about on this blog.

To stay in the Christmas spirit, I used mini star and tree-shaped molds, but you can clearly use the shapes you prefer without any reference to the end-of-year period.

The dough for this recipe is very quick and basic in taste, making it perfect to pair with anything you like, including cold cuts, cheese, and more. Follow along as we prepare the quick savory crown

P.S. The recipe’s dough is for TWO  quick savory crowns like the ones you see in the photo!

If you want to accompany the quick savory crown with mousses, I recommend:

FOR PREPARING THE QUICK SAVORY CROWN RECIPE

  • Make a well with the sifted flour with yeast for savory preparations.

In the center, place the cow’s milk ricotta, the extra virgin olive oil, and the salt.

Knead vigorously to obtain a soft but compact and smooth dough.

Cover it with a towel and let it rest for 5/6 minutes at room temperature.

    Preheat the oven to 340°F.

  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of about half a centimeter: do not make the quick savory crown too thin, otherwise, some stars will burn while the thicker parts will remain raw!

Use the chosen molds (I even considered shooting stars but then scaled back, ha ha!!) to make many small stars, arranging them in a circle.

For a perfect circle, take a sheet of parchment paper and draw two concentric circles on the back, or ….

Place a cup, glass, or anything oven-safe in the parchment paper circle and place the stars around it, overlapping some here and there.

  • With a brush and a little extra virgin olive oil, brush the surface of the crown and sprinkle it with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or others of your choice.

Bake the quick savory crown in the preheated oven for 15/20 minutes or depending on your oven’s characteristics.

When your stars are golden, remove the crown and let it cool completely.

Serve it at the table with sauces, cold cuts, or other of your choice…

Enjoy your meal with the recipe of the quick savory crown!
