Roasted Savoy Cabbage Slices

A tender and flavorful side dish roasted in the oven after drizzling the roasted Savoy cabbage slices with a mix of extra virgin olive oil, honey, and lemon zest!

To make this typically winter side dish even more appetizing, we can accompany it with a yogurt sauce like this RAITA with mint, very very creamy and simple to make.

Surely cabbage varieties are one of the main vegetables we find at this time of year, and these vegetables are good sources of B vitamins that help the human body have a good metabolism. These vegetables are also useful in protecting bones because they provide calcium, fluoride, magnesium, and also iron, which is essential for the production of red blood cells.

ROASTED Savoy Cabbage Slices
  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Very Economical
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Autumn, Winter, and Spring

Ingredients ROASTED SAVOY CABBAGE SLICES RECIPE

  • 1 Savoy cabbage
  • 3 tablespoons wildflower honey
  • 1 lemon (untreated)
  • 2 leaves sage
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil

Tools ROASTED SAVOY CABBAGE SLICES RECIPE

  • Baking Sheets
  • Parchment Paper

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE ROASTED SAVOY CABBAGE SLICES RECIPE

  • I remove the tougher outer leaves of the Savoy cabbage.

Then I cut slices about 0.75 inches thick and clean them, being careful not to break the circle of leaves by washing and patting them dry with care.

  • I line a baking sheet with parchment paper that can hold the large slices of cabbage.

In a bowl, I put about 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, the zest and the strained juice of the lemon, and the wildflower honey.

  • I mix very well and sprinkle the cabbage slices with this cream, better if you drizzle them using a food brush.

I bake at 392°F for about 20 minutes, then remove the baking sheet and sprinkle the cabbage slices with a sage pesto and some pieces of bay leaf.

  • I also add a drizzle of oil and return to the oven for another 10/15 minutes or until the cabbage is well browned and tender.

All that’s left is to bring it to the table to accompany some chicken scaloppine, a green pepper steak, or a very simple roasted or boiled fish!

    Enjoy your meal!
