Savory Puff Pastry Roses Filled

Savory puff pastry roses filled easy recipe a simple and let’s say also quick preparation because ready-made puff pastry is something I always have in my fridge!
My filling is rather simple, made with zucchini cut into small cubes, slices of speck, and pieces of cow’s milk mozzarella.

How to vary the filling of the savory puff pastry roses?
You can experiment with your favorite tastes and I recommend some of my favorite fillings like:
1) rocket cut into pieces with crumbled tuna;
2) a mixture of cheeses like mozzarella, scamorza, provolone;
3) zucchini and potato cubes with a mix of grated parmesan and breadcrumbs;
4) potato slices seasoned with classic Genoese pesto and pieces of mozzarella or Galbanino or other melting cheese;
5) thin slices of mozzarella with sun-dried tomatoes in oil and lots of fresh basil broken with your fingers….

and many more to your liking!!!!!

The savory puff pastry rose cake is for 4 people and I used only one package of 230 grams, and it can also be ideal if you need to organize a buffet for more people.
A winning idea was to brush the puff pastry rectangle with beaten egg and then sprinkle it all with grated cheese like parmesan before adding the speck and mozzarella.
By doing so, I enhance the flavor and allow the filling to blend better with the pastry … what do you think, could it be a good idea for this preparation?

Preparation of the Savory Puff Pastry Roses Filled Recipe

  • To prepare this simple and tasty appetizer of Savory puff pastry roses first I wash the zucchini and cut it into small cubes.

  • I drain the mozzarella from its preservation liquid and cut it into small squares, letting it drain in a colander for 10/15 minutes.

  • On a work surface, I roll out the ready-made rectangular puff pastry.

    I beat the egg in a glass or bowl and with the help of a brush, I spread it over the entire surface of the puff pastry.

    I sprinkle it all with grated parmesan and with a knife, I already trace the strips of pastry for my savory puff pastry roses cake.

  • Then I lay out the slices of speck and add the dice of raw mozzarella and zucchini.

    I roll each strip as you see in the photo in a rose shape and continue until I use up the package of puff pastry I filled.

  • Now I place the crown of filled savory roses in the baking pan, keeping the parchment paper, and add the little remaining beaten egg on top.

    I sprinkle with salt (just a little because I already have speck as an ingredient in the filling) then bake at 375°F for about 25 minutes or according to your oven’s characteristics.

  • The savory puff pastry roses filled should become golden and puffed for a correct execution of this easy and tasty appetizer recipe.

    Once cooking is complete, just let the preparation rest for a few minutes and then serve at the table…

    Enjoy your meal!
