Savory puff pastry roses stuffed, easy recipe – a simple and let’s say quick preparation because I used ready-made puff pastry that is never missing from my fridge!
My filling is quite simple, made with zucchini diced small, slices of speck, and pieces of cow’s milk mozzarella.
How to vary the filling of the savory puff pastry roses?
Here you can vary with your preferred tastes, and I suggest some of my other favorite fillings like:
1) chopped arugula with crumbled tuna;
2) a mix of cheeses like mozzarella, smoked scamorza, provolone;
3) diced zucchini and potatoes with a mix of grated parmesan and breadcrumbs;
4) potato slices seasoned with classic Genoese pesto and pieces of mozzarella or galbanino or other melting cheese;
5) thinly sliced mozzarella with sun-dried tomatoes in oil and lots of fresh basil torn with your fingers…
and much more to your liking!!!!!
The savory puff pastry rose tart is for 4 people, and I used only one 230 gram package, which can also be ideal if you need to organize a buffet for more people.
A winning idea was to brush the puff pastry rectangle with beaten egg and then sprinkle everything with grated cheese like grana before adding the speck and mozzarella.
Doing so adds flavor to the preparation and allows the filling to blend better with the puff pastry… what do you think, could this be a good idea for this preparation?

Preparation of the Recipe for Savory Stuffed Puff Pastry Roses
To prepare this simple and tasty appetizer of Savory Stuffed Puff Pastry Roses, first I wash the zucchini and dice it small.
I drain the mozzarella from the preservation liquid and cut it into small squares, letting it drain in a colander for 10-15 minutes.
On a work surface, I unroll the ready-made rectangular puff pastry.
I beat the egg in a glass or bowl and with the help of a brush, I spread it over the entire surface of the puff pastry.
I sprinkle it all with the grated grana cheese and with the knife, I already trace the strips of pastry for my stuffed savory rose tart.
I then lay down the slices of speck and add the diced mozzarella and raw zucchinis.
I roll each strip as you see in the photo in the shape of a rose and continue until I finish the package of puff pastry that I filled.
I now place the crown of stuffed savory roses in the baking pan, keeping the parchment paper, and add the little remaining beaten egg on top.
I sprinkle with salt (a little, because I already have speck as a filling ingredient) then bake at 375°F for about 25 minutes or depending on your oven’s characteristics.
The savory stuffed puff pastry roses need to turn golden and puff up for a proper outcome of this easy and tasty appetizer recipe.
Once baked, just let the preparation rest for a few minutes, then serve at the table…
Enjoy your meal!
