I saw sweet pinecones like the one in the photo (about, hehe, the almonds were thicker sliced) on a photo online, and as always my head said: ‘yessssss, I’ll make them too’!
I must say they are not difficult, but require a lot of patience because the almond slices I found at the supermarket are quite fragile, so you have to proceed by trial and error and not get discouraged because then the result seems very cute to me. You can use the sweet pinecones as decorations on any cake, log, dome cake, and other Christmas-themed desserts, and in the end, enjoy a piece of sweet pinecone!

Ingredients
- 8 oz almond paste
- 4.2 oz sliced almonds
- to taste unsweetened cocoa powder
Preparation
Prepare small cones of almond paste about 1.5/2 inches in height.
Carefully insert the almond slices into the almond paste, which is so ductile and moldable, and I recommend using a pair of disposable gloves because with the heat from your hands the fingers could get a bit sticky, and you’ll definitely do a better job with protection.
Place the almond slices all around the almond paste cone concentrically.
Once finished and covered the whole cone, gently dust the sweet pinecones with unsweetened cocoa.
Leave them on a sheet of parchment paper until it’s time to use them as a sweet decoration for your desserts.
