THREE-FLAVOR ICE CREAM BONBONS

The heat is coming and today I made three-flavor ice cream bonbons — little balls (unfortunately each one different because the warmth of my hands and wearing gloves made shaping these sweets a bit of a mess…) — sweet frozen bites to keep in the freezer, like the old-style bomboniera ice creams from some time ago!

The ice cream bonbons are very easy and you only need to remove them from the freezer a few minutes before bringing them to the table to enjoy them.

The mixture is simple and, I assure you, very delicious — so follow me and we’ll quickly prepare the three-flavor ice cream bonbons!

Ingredients for THREE-FLAVOR ICE CREAM BONBONS

  • 2 cups Mascarpone
  • 2 tbsp Powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder (+ extra before serving)
  • 2 tbsp Espresso coffee
  • 7 oz Dark chocolate (Melted in a bain-marie)

Preparation for THREE-FLAVOR ICE CREAM BONBONS

  • Mix the mascarpone in a bowl, softening it slightly with a spatula.

  • Add the powdered sugar, the sifted unsweetened cocoa and the espresso, obtaining a thick, very tasty cream.

  • Be patient and, if you have a small-sized ice cream scoop (mine is large), use it, placing the small balls you make immediately into the freezer!

  • After a few minutes and while protecting your hands with disposable food-safe gloves, try to round them: I struggled a bit, but these little frozen treats are so good that the effort is absolutely worth the time.

  • Leave in the freezer for at least 2-3 hours. Melt the dark chocolate in a bain-marie or in the microwave and quickly dip the ice cream bonbons in the warm (not boiling) chocolate sauce.

  • Return the bonbons to the freezer and only at the moment of serving, sprinkle them with a little unsweetened cocoa powder.
