The traditional apple pie recipe is part of American gastronomy and is a tart-like dessert with shortcrust pastry and plenty of flavored apples with cinnamon, lemon, ginger which meld into a delicious and fragrant cream when baked!
I had already made this cake in 2013, but strangely the recipe disappeared, but not the photo below, which I tasted with a nice dollop of whipped cream that I swear is perfect!!!!!!
I preferred to speed up the preparation and bought the shortcrust pastry in store, but if you have time and want, I leave you the recipe just below to easily prepare it in your kitchens.

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE TRADITIONAL APPLE PIE RECIPE
https://blog.giallozafferano.it/asilannablu/pasta-brise-ricetta-di-base/ but very simply just mix 200 g of flour with 70 g of cold water and 100 g of butter and then let the dough rest in the refrigerator before using it for the American apple pie.
I wash, peel, core the apples and cut them into small pieces.
I put them in a bowl adding the lemon zest and juice, cinnamon, ginger, melted butter, cornstarch, and flour.
I mix well and let marinate for about ten minutes.
After marinating, I sautéed this apple mixture for a few minutes over medium heat, but it’s my personal idea to put them in the pan for a few minutes, it’s optional!
I spread the first layer of shortcrust pastry on the baking pan lined with parchment paper, pricking it on the bottom with a fork.
Then I pour the apples with all the other ingredients, level them and cover with the second shortcrust pastry dough, tucking in the outer edges, removing the excess dough, and sealing the American apple pie well.
With a knife or a sharp cutter, I make some incisions on the pastry… maybe I killed the shortcrust!
Now I bake at 350°F for about 45/50 minutes or depending on the characteristics of our home oven.
Once done, I let it cool completely and then take out the apple pie traditional American recipe and dive right in!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy your meal! Annalisa

SO SO… as always I am clear inside and outside the blog! This apple pie recipe I took from Cooking Well February 2025 and followed it to the letter except for the shortcrust pastry shell bought at the supermarket.
In this apple pie recipe the apples are also mixed with cornstarch and flour surely to create a sauce a cream that for me is maybe a bit much!
Personally, I would put less of these ingredients, but I leave you the possibility to experiment and then adjust according to your personal taste, for example … my son loved the cream that forms so hooray for diversity!
