FRENCH TOAST original recipe

Warning: the following post contains highly tempting images and content; those currently following a low-calorie diet should abstain!

Jokes aside, today we will prepare together the FRENCH TOAST original recipe, a super delicious dish typical of traditional American cuisine perfect to make your breakfast unique.

The original recipe is very easy and super quick, moreover, it involves few and simple ingredients that we can easily find in any supermarket: sandwich bread (or brioche bread), eggs, milk, and butter.

To prepare FRENCH TOAST, you will simply need to dip the brioche bread (or sandwich bread) in a bowl with beaten eggs and milk, drain it, and fry it for a few minutes in a pan with melted butter and sugar. Then fill or garnish it as you like. I know it’s not exactly a diet recipe, but it’s worth indulging in every now and then, isn’t it?

A super delicious dessert to prepare for a hearty breakfast or a substantial brunch at a decidedly low cost and ready in just over 10 minutes.

With the original FRENCH TOAST recipe, you can make sweet or savory versions. The base recipe doesn’t change, you just modify the ingredients that will fill or cover the toasts to bring to the table many delicious sweet or savory dishes perfect for Sunday brunch.

To garnish sweet FRENCH TOAST, you can use honey, maple syrup, jam, Nutella, fresh fruit, while for savory FRENCH TOAST, you can garnish them with cooked ham and cheese (the most popular version), cheese and grilled vegetables, with egg and avocado, or even just cheese. Any cheese is fine, the important thing is that the slices are cut very thin to ensure they melt perfectly during cooking and become stringy.

NOTES

If you want to make your sweet FRENCH TOAST even more delicious, you can prepare a filling with ricotta and sugar, mix with a fork, add some berries, and spread abundantly on a slice of sandwich bread. Close with another slice of bread, press the two slices lightly, dip the FRENCH TOAST in the “batter” of eggs and milk, and proceed with frying in the pan. Once ready, sprinkle with powdered sugar!
