MARS FLAVORED OVERNIGHT OATS PORRIDGE
By now we’ve learned that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gives us the right energy and strength to best face the various tasks.
Today I present this recipe for a Breakfast with Rolled Oats, Milk, and Greek Yogurt, a sort of Porridge that is prepared in no time, rich in energy and taste, the MARS FLAVORED OVERNIGHT OATS, the famous chocolate bar filled with caramel.
A nice cup of this dessert of Anglo-Saxon origin and we will be ready to face the challenges of the day whether in the office, at school, at home for household chores, or for those who can afford it, to be tourists in towns and cities.
For those who don’t know, Overnight Porridge is a variant of the classic Anglo-Saxon recipe that doesn’t require cooking, perfect for those who have little time or don’t want to cook. It is prepared in advance, usually the night before, left in the fridge overnight, and upon waking, it’s ready to be enjoyed with the topping of your choice.
An easy recipe: the rolled oats are mixed with milk or water, Greek yogurt, flavored as desired with vanilla, and sweetened with honey. Once the mixture is mixed, there is no need to cook it, it just needs to be placed in the fridge to rest for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
You can also watch the video inside the recipe to follow each step, although I assure you it is really easy and I’m sure you won’t need it.
Once ready, you only need to decide whether to layer it with yogurt of your favorite taste, spreadable creams, and garnish it with the Topping you prefer as there are infinite delicious possibilities.
In today’s recipe of OVERNIGHT OATS MARS FLAVOR, I created a first layer with the Porridge, a second made from 0% Greek yogurt mixed with caramel (you can directly buy caramel-flavored yogurt), and I finished with a Topping of milk chocolate decorated with caramel stripes.
You’ll see how this simple breakfast will fill you up, without weighing you down too much, for a long time and you’ll get to lunch without that annoying hunger.
And if during the day you get hungry, or even in the evening after dinner, you want to treat yourself to a dessert, this cup of Overnight Oats Porridge with yogurt, milk chocolate, and caramel will be perfect.
So what are you waiting for, let’s start preparing it together!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 3.4 oz water (or plant-based milk or cow's milk)
- 1 tsp honey (or maple syrup)
- 4.2 oz 0% fat Greek yogurt
- 2.5 oz 0% fat Greek yogurt
- 2 tbsp caramel
- 1.1 oz milk chocolate
- 1/2 tsp coconut oil
- caramel (for decoration)
Tools
- Bowl
- 2 Small Cups
Steps
In a bowl, mix together rolled oats, honey, yogurt, and almond milk (or cow’s milk or another plant-based beverage) until combined. Transfer the mixture to a single-serving cup and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
After resting and before consuming, complete the preparation. Prepare the caramel (you can find the procedure in the notes at the bottom) add 2 tablespoons to the yogurt then mix until combined. Pour everything over the oat layer and level with the back of a spoon.
Melt 1.1 oz of milk chocolate in the microwave along with 5 ml of coconut oil and pour it over the caramel yogurt layer. Level with a spatula or the back of a spoon, finish with some caramel stripes for decoration. Leave in the fridge to solidify for a couple of minutes: it will remind you of the taste of the famous Mars milk chocolate and caramel bar.
NOTES
WATER For an even creamier porridge, you can replace the water with the same amount of cow’s milk or plant-based beverage (soy, almond, oat, rice).
HONEY You can substitute honey with maple syrup or sweetener for a lighter version.
CARAMEL: If you don’t have time or don’t want to prepare it, you can buy Caramel flavored Yogurt which you find on the supermarket shelves or replace it with a Caramel dessert/protein cream. For the Caramel Topping, similarly, if you don’t find it ready-made, you can omit it or replace it with spreadable creams.
VANILLA It’s amazing how a pinch of this essence can enhance the taste of your Porridge, but if you don’t like this spice, you can omit it.
OVERNIGHT REST: Let the oats rest in the fridge for at least 2-3 hours, preferably overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the oats to soften to achieve the perfect consistency.
Caramel Preparation
Place 135 g of sugar in a not too large saucepan with a thick bottom and cook over medium-low heat until the sugar begins to melt. Rotate the saucepan often so as not to burn the sugar on the edges. Meanwhile, heat 100 ml of fresh liquid cream. As soon as the sugar is completely melted and has an amber color, lower the heat and add 65 g of butter.
Mix quickly with a whisk until the butter is completely melted, then also pour in the hot cream. Mix with a whisk until you get a smooth consistency, then transfer it to a jar and let it cool first at room temperature and then in the fridge.
STORAGE
The MARS FLAVORED OVERNIGHT OATS PORRIDGE can be prepared the night before for the next day, and it will be even better. Once ready, it can be stored in the fridge in a closed container for up to 2 days.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
How can I achieve the right consistency of Rolled Oats?
To achieve the perfect consistency of the oats, it’s all about the oats/liquid ratio. Generally, a 1:2 ratio works well. If the oats are too thick, add a bit more liquid; if too liquid, reduce the amount of milk/water slightly next time.
How can I balance the sweetness when adding fruit and toppings to Rolled Oats?
Overnight Oats can sometimes be too sweet, depending on the combinations (e.g., with hazelnut or pistachio cream). Consider this when deciding how to layer it, and maybe taste a spoonful before adding extra sweeteners like honey or maple syrup.
Can I heat my Overnight Oats Porridge or should it be eaten cold?
The Overnight Oats Porridge is traditionally consumed cold or at room temperature, but if you prefer it warm, you can heat it for a few seconds in the microwave
