Ingredients

- 1 oz vermouth (RED)

- A few ice cube(s) ice

- Measuring
Steps
Pour the CAMPARI Bitter directly into the glass and add the RED VERMOUTH.
At this point pour in the GIN. Finally, add a few ice cubes to the glass. It is important to add the ice now and not to an empty glass: this way the ice doesn’t warm up and the Negroni won’t be diluted.
Stir with the help of a bar spoon, garnish the Negroni with an orange slice and cheers!
NEGRONI SBAGLIATO
A very famous variant of the NEGRONI Cocktail is the Negroni Sbagliato. This variant was created in Milan by the famous bartender Mirko Stocchetto of Bar Basso in Milan in 1972. In this reinterpretation of the NEGRONI, brut sparkling wine replaces the gin for a lighter result due to the lower alcohol content.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1 Be careful with the proportions and don’t dilute it too much with ice
2 To be precise with the measures use the jigger, the measuring tool used by bartenders
3 Don’t forget the right glass — you’ll make an impression with minimal effort.
4 The Negroni is prepared directly in a low tumbler (the typical glass for the NEGRONI) and is decorated with an orange slice. The alcohol by volume is high: it’s around 28%.
CURIOSITY
The Negroni Cocktail has more than 100 years of history — in fact it was invented in 1919! Its creator is said to have been Count Camillo Negroni (from whom it takes its name). Returning from one of his many trips to London, he asked the bartender at Caffè Casoni in Florence to add a good dose of gin to the “Milano-Torino” cocktail (prepared with red vermouth and Campari bitter), and that’s how the NEGRONI was born!
FAQ (Questions and Answers)
Which GIN is used for the Negroni?
According to most professional bartenders, the best gin to prepare the Negroni is Tanqueray London Dry Gin for its decisive flavor.
Which VERMOUTH to use for the Negroni?
The Negroni is usually made with a sweet vermouth characterized by an intense red color. The best is the classic Cinzano Rosso Vermouth, which also includes notes of wormwood and vanilla, but Carpano Antica Formula or Cocchi Storico Vermouth also work well.
Which BITTER to use for the Negroni?
The bitters usually used to prepare the NEGRONI COCKTAIL are those whose aromatic part is citrus (orange) and whose main bitter base is rhubarb root. The most used is definitely Campari followed by Fusetti Bitter.
What is the difference between a Negroni and a Negroni Sbagliato?
The Negroni Sbagliato, usually simply called SBAGLIATO, is a cocktail created in Milan in 1972 at Bar Basso by Mirko Stocchetto. It differs from the CLASSIC NEGRONI by the presence of brut sparkling wine, which replaces the gin.
