YOGURT AND OATS FLAKES (OVERNIGHT OATS) OREO flavor

OREO FLAVOR OVERNIGHT OATS
We’ve learned by now that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gives us the right energy and strength to face the various tasks at hand.
Today I present this recipe for a Breakfast of Oats Flakes, Milk, and Greek Yogurt, a sort of Porridge that is prepared in no time, rich in energy and taste: the OREO FLAVOR OVERNIGHT OATS.
A nice cup of this Anglo-Saxon-origin dessert and we will be ready to face the day’s challenges, whether in the office, school, at home for chores, or, for those who can, being tourists in villages and cities.
For those who don’t know, Overnight Porridge is a variant of the classic Anglo-Saxon recipe that requires no cooking, perfect for those who have little time or don’t want to cook. It’s prepared in advance, usually the night before, left in the fridge overnight, and ready to be enjoyed with your preferred topping upon waking.
An extremely easy recipe: oats flakes are mixed together with milk or water, Greek yogurt, flavored to taste with vanilla, and sweetened with honey. Once mixed, the mixture doesn’t need cooking, just place it in the fridge to rest for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
You can also watch the video within the recipe to follow each step, although I assure you it is really easy and I’m sure you won’t need it.
Once ready, you’ll just have to decide whether to layer it with yogurt of your preferred flavor, spreadable creams, and garnish it with your chosen topping because there are endless delicious possibilities.
In today’s recipe, I created a first layer with the Porridge, a second by adding crushed OREO cookies, a third layer of vanilla Greek yogurt, and finished with more crushed Oreo cookies.
You’ll see how this no-cook Porridge cup will satisfy you, without weighing you down, for a long time, and you’ll reach lunch without that annoying feeling of hunger.
And if during the day you get a craving or want a dessert after dinner, this spoon dessert will be perfect.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s start preparing it together!

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 4 Hours
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 2
  • Cooking methods: No Cooking
  • Cuisine: English

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oats flakes
  • 3.4 oz water (or plant-based milk or cow's milk)
  • 1 tsp honey (or maple syrup)
  • 4.2 oz 0% fat Greek yogurt
  • 4 OREO® cookies
  • 2.5 oz 0% fat Greek yogurt (vanilla)
  • OREO® cookies (for decoration)

Tools

  • Bowl
  • 2 Dessert cups

Steps

  • In a bowl, mix oats flakes, honey, yogurt, and almond milk (or cow’s milk or other plant-based drink) until combined. Transfer the mixture into a single-serving cup and place in the fridge for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  • After resting and before consuming, finish the preparation. Divide the OREO cookies in half, use a teaspoon to remove the filling and mix it with the Vanilla yogurt. Stir to combine. Now, crumble the Oreo cookies without the cream using a rolling pin or in a mixer and distribute them over the layer of oats. Pour the vanilla yogurt on top and level with the back of a spoon.

  • For the last layer, simply decorate to taste with more crushed Oreo cookies and half a whole one.

NOTES

WATER For an even creamier porridge, you can replace the water with an equal amount of cow’s milk or plant-based drink (soy, almond, oats, rice).

HONEY You can replace the honey with maple syrup or sweetener for a lighter version.

VANILLA It’s incredible how a pinch of this essence can enhance the flavor of your Porridge, but if you don’t like this spice, you can omit it.

OVERNIGHT REST: Let the oats rest in the fridge for at least 2-3 hours, preferably overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the oats to soften to the perfect consistency.

COOKIES: The cookies used are Oreo, but of course, you can choose your favorite cookie and still create a delicious Porridge.

STORAGE

The OREO FLAVOR OVERNIGHT OATS can be prepared the night before for the next day, and in fact, it will be even better. Once ready, it can be stored in the fridge in a closed container for up to 2 days.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)

  • How can I achieve the right consistency of Oats Flakes?

To achieve the perfect oats consistency, it’s all about the oats/liquid ratio. Generally, a 1:2 ratio works well. If the oats are too thick, add a little more liquid, vice versa if too runny, slightly reduce the amount of milk/water next time.

  • How can I balance the sweetness when adding fruit and topping to the Oats Flakes?

The Overnight Oats Flakes might be too sweet in some combinations (e.g., with hazelnut or pistachio cream). Keep this in mind when deciding how to layer it, and possibly taste a spoonful before adding extra sweeteners like honey or maple syrup.

  • Can I heat my Overnight Oats Porridge, or should it be eaten cold?

Overnight Oats Porridge is traditionally consumed cold or at room temperature, but if you prefer it warm, you can heat it for a few seconds in the microwave.
