Tasty and cheesy baked anelletti light are my simple version of the traditional Palermo-style anelletti or Sicilian-style anelletti.
Anelletti or anellini are a type of pasta typical of Palermo and are used to prepare a timbale.
Browsing through the supermarket shelves, I was amazed to find them in whole-wheat: Sicilian rings no. 33, but it was a rare find.
The traditional Sicilian cuisine recipe is rich in ingredients: meat ragù, cheeses [from caciocavallo to primo sale to provola] and cured meats, peas, hard-boiled eggs, and fried eggplant.
I prepared my light Sicilian anelletti with simple tomato sauce and mozzarella.
Tasty and cheesy baked anelletti light with mozzarella are a complete meal as they concentrate the characteristics that distinguish a balanced meal into a single dish.
