When I think of bundt cakes, my mouth immediately waters. We can make them in different ways, as our imagination suggests. With chocolate, nuts, jam, creams, in short, the final result is always the goodness of a genuine, homemade, and convivial cake. I love baking cakes because, after a good meal with family or friends, ending on a sweet note remains one of the most anticipated moments. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s prepare this simple but tasty cake, scenic to present at the table.
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 6People
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
Let’s see the ingredients we need to make it.
- 3 eggs (preferably at room temperature)
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar (if you prefer more sweetness, you can add up to 1 cup)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/8 cup partially skimmed milk (whole milk is fine too)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 orange zest (grated, about half an orange not more, it should be a hint)
- as needed almond flakes (to cover the bundt cake)
Steps
Let’s prepare our small cake.
Take a bowl and pour in the eggs with the sugar. Beat the mixture until it becomes nice and fluffy. Now add the oil and milk gradually and continue mixing. Grate about half the zest of an orange (edible peel), no more, as the orange flavor should remain a hint. At this point, begin to incorporate the sifted flour with the baking powder. The movements should now be gentle from bottom to top. The mixture should be nice and creamy.
Now take half of our mixture and transfer it to another bowl, to which we will add 1/4 cup of cocoa, which, when well mixed, will become chocolate-colored. Now, in one bowl we will have a light batter and in the other a dark one.
Now comes the most fun part. With the two batters, we can go wild pouring and mixing them in the mold as we like. Specifically, I assembled the batter colors like this: a base of light (half of the total light), then I poured all the dark and sealed again with the remaining light. To finish, I put almond flakes on the surface as I felt. I hope I explained myself well. You can mix the batters as you like, the beauty will be when cutting the cake, revealing how the colors of the two batters have mixed.
The bundt cake will bake in a 9-inch/23 cm mold at most, so it can become nice and tall.
Bake in a static oven mode, 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 40 minutes. I always do the toothpick test.
Take it out of the oven, let it cool, and enjoy.
