Gnocchi with Octopus Sauce

Gnocchi with octopus sauce is a tasty, simple, healthy, and very tempting recipe.

Among sea creatures, octopus is one of my favorites to serve, I enjoy it green with potatoes but also with pasta in aromatic and flavorful sauces.

Steps

Let’s see how to prepare this tasty and fragrant sauce to dress the gnocchi. You will find that the combination with “fresh” potato pasta will be amazing.

  • As the very first step, I took the octopus and blanched it in water.

    Why not cook it directly in the sauce? If you do this and don’t put it directly to cook in the tomato, the octopus will make the sauce less “strong”, more delicate on the palate.

  • After boiling the octopus for fifteen minutes, we put it to drain and set it aside. Now let’s focus on the sauce.

    In our saucepan, put garlic, Taggiasca olives, capers, and oil and let them sizzle for a moment.

  • Add the tomato sauce, the basil leaves, the chili pepper, and let all the ingredients blend together for five to ten minutes.

  • Now take the octopuses we had set to drain and add them to the sauce and let it go until fully cooked.

    I love eating them not too firm, so I let them go in the sauce for another 30 minutes.

    Then, it also depends on the size of the octopuses. Poke them and check they have reached the desired level of doneness.

  • Cook the gnocchi, drain them, and add them to the prepared sauce. Can you believe I’m salivating while writing this? Mix everything well and serve.

Tips

I hope you liked this seafood recipe. We must always vary the foods we consume during the week, and octopus is among those foods that should not be missing.

Among the properties of octopus, one of the most important, which makes it a diet-friendly food, is the low-fat content, with a good percentage of protein (10% in 100 g of product) which classifies it as a very filling food;

it also provides a valid supply of calcium, potassium, phosphorus, vitamins A and B12. What are you waiting for? Hurry up and prepare this dish.

Hello, I'm Simona, and my page is called BriCciola in cucina, because I dedicated it to my mom and dad, who have called me that since I was little. I'm not a chef, and in my life, I've always dealt with completely different things, but cooking, along with dancing, has always been one of my great passions. However, my greatest inspiration came from the dishes prepared first by my grandmother and now by my mom. Here on my cooking blog, I'll guide you from appetizers to desserts, with recipes designed for a healthy and mindful lifestyle. Balanced dishes, carefully chosen ingredients, and lots of flavors, because eating well never means giving up pleasure. I love eating, but I also like taking care of my health, my family's health, and, in a way, the health of everyone who tries my recipes. That's why daily life should be rich in flavor, but always with a focus on healthy eating. Thank you, I look forward to seeing you.
