The orange and chocolate cake is one of the versions of my water-based cake, low in fats and sugars but with an intense orange flavor and aroma.
I love this fruit and every day I eat at least two or three, and this passion for this citrus fruit, I also channel into preparing dishes that include this wonderful fruit among the ingredients.

Ingredients
Let’s see the ingredients needed for this recipe
- 2 eggs
- sugar (2 oz)
- corn oil (2.8 oz)
- water (3/4 cup)
- 1 pinch salt
- orange zest (from one grated orange)
- 1 orange juice (from one whole orange)
- flour (2 1/2 cups)
- potato starch (1/2 cup)
- 1 packet baking powder
- Half vial orange flavoring
- to taste chocolate chips (for the topping)
- to taste orange (slices for decorating the surface)
Tools
Electric whisks for working the dough, a 9-inch diameter mold
Steps
First, take a bowl and pour the eggs (which you have left at room temperature) together with the sugar. Beat them until they are nice and fluffy.
Now add a pinch of salt, the oil, the water, the half vial of orange essence, the zest, and the orange juice. Mix well. Now let’s incorporate the sifted flour and potato starch. Lastly, the packet of vanilla baking powder. If you like, you can also add some chocolate chips to the dough.
Continue to mix the dough until it’s smooth and frothy.
Now take the pan, butter and flour it. I used a 9-inch diameter mold. Distribute the dough inside and decorate with lots of orange slices and chocolate chips. Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F, static mode for about 40/45 minutes.
Always do the toothpick test before turning off the oven. The cake should be dry and the toothpick should not stick. Everyone should adjust according to their oven.
Storage of the Orange and Chocolate Cake
The cake can be stored for 3/4 days, but given the presence of fruit, I recommend keeping it in the fridge because at room temperature the fruit might spoil😉
