I prepared the perfect and creamy béchamel using a few well-combined ingredients.

You will need butter, milk, flour, salt, and nutmeg.

Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 4.23 cups milk
  • to taste fine salt
  • to taste nutmeg

Steps

  • Turn on the stove and pour the butter into the saucepan.

    Melt the butter over low heat.

    Start adding the flour little by little and with a whisk, begin to mix the two ingredients.

    Stir until the flour completely absorbs the liquid.

    Once the roux is formed (thickened butter with flour) begin to pour the milk.

    Add the salt and nutmeg as well.

    At this stage, it is important to keep stirring the mixture to prevent lumps from forming.

    When the mixture starts to boil, increase the heat slightly, and you’ll see it also starts to thicken.

    The trick for smooth and silky béchamel is not to rush the cooking and not to tire of stirring.

    You choose the creamy consistency.

    I prefer it not too thick.
