Whole Wheat Apple Sweet Bundles

Whole Wheat Apple Sweet Bundles are soft treats made with a simple yet delicious dough.

First of all, let me tell you that this soft shortcrust pastry DOES NOT contain:

– EGGS

– BUTTER

– LOW SUGAR

I would like you to prepare this dough and then tell me if, despite the few ingredients it contains, you don’t find it so delicious with its lemon flavor and this apple filling that completes the sensory experience on the palate.

If I’m wrong, write to me, because really, among relatives and friends, in my house, they all appreciated them enthusiastically.

I’ll also leave you a few more recipes, right below that you can see by clicking on the red text:

Ingredients

Let’s see the simple and few ingredients I used to prepare the whole wheat apple sweet bundles.

  • whole wheat flour (9 oz)
  • sugar (1.4 oz I use cane sugar)
  • lemon juice (about half a lemon, no more)
  • lemon zest (grated, about half a lemon)
  • water (7 oz)
  • extra virgin olive oil (3.5 oz)
  • baking powder (0.18 oz)
  • 1 pinch fine salt
  • Half apple
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon (if you like)

Tools

To prepare the bundles, you won’t need any special tools, just a bowl, fork, pastry cutter or a round mold, a blender, knife.

Steps

Here are the simple steps to make the recipe

  • In a bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, grated zest of half a lemon, sugar, and a pinch of salt.

Arrange these powders into a fountain shape, creating a hole in the center, in which you will pour the lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, and water.

Start mixing the dough with a fork, and when it becomes difficult, proceed by hand.

Once the dough is formed, which will be smooth and soft, roll it out with a rolling pin.

  • With a pastry cutter or whatever you have, create circles of dough, inside which you will place a teaspoon of apple, previously blended.

I blended the apple in a blender, but you can simply cut it into pieces or slices. Do what works best for you. I added a pinch of cinnamon to the apple.

  • At this point, I folded the dough over itself and sealed the edges with the tines of a fork.

Place the whole wheat apple sweet bundles on a baking tray covered with parchment paper and bake at 350°F, in a preheated convection oven for about 15 minutes.

The texture will be of a soft shortcrust, not crumbly like a cookie.

  • Ready to enjoy these little delicious gems?

I know, they’re a bit imperfect and not of high pastry, but I love them anyway, because simplicity and genuineness are what distinguish my recipes and my blog.

Storage and Tips

The whole wheat bundles will keep for a few days in an airtight tin or glass container.

If your preparations contain fresh fruit, I recommend storing them in the fridge if not consumed within two or three days.

FAQ

Hello, I'm Simona, and my page is called BriCciola in cucina, because I dedicated it to my mom and dad, who have called me that since I was little. I'm not a chef, and in my life, I've always dealt with completely different things, but cooking, along with dancing, has always been one of my great passions. However, my greatest inspiration came from the dishes prepared first by my grandmother and now by my mom. Here on my cooking blog, I'll guide you from appetizers to desserts, with recipes designed for a healthy and mindful lifestyle. Balanced dishes, carefully chosen ingredients, and lots of flavors, because eating well never means giving up pleasure. I love eating, but I also like taking care of my health, my family's health, and, in a way, the health of everyone who tries my recipes. That's why daily life should be rich in flavor, but always with a focus on healthy eating. Thank you, I look forward to seeing you.
