Preparation of Christmas Tree Tart
To create the tree-shaped tart, we use a disposable mold, which you can find above under tools. The chestnut cream can also be purchased ready-made and can be found under ingredients.
On a work surface, pour the flour in a mound, add the pinch of salt, the baking powder, and the cold butter in pieces. Knead the dough with your hands, but you can also use a stand mixer with hook attachments if you prefer. Now add the grated orange zest, the sugar, the whole egg, and the yolk. Mix the ingredients and gradually add the orange juice. If the dough appears too soft, just add a little more flour.
Form a nice dough ball and wrap it in plastic wrap, then let it rest in the fridge for about half an hour. In the meantime, let’s work on the filling: prepare the nuts by coarsely chopping them.
Take the shortcrust pastry from the fridge and roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/8 to 3/16 inches. Line the Christmas tree mold without the need to grease and flour it, now prick the bottom with the prongs of a fork.
Place the coarsely chopped nuts in the shortcrust shell to form a layer, then pour the chestnut cream on top and level it well. Now roll out a new sheet of 3/16 inches on the work surface and cut out stars for decoration.
Place them on top of the cream, bake in a preheated oven, and let it cook at 356°F for 35/40 minutes, always adjusting with your oven. Once ready, remove from the oven and let it cool, serve the tart with a dusting of vanilla powdered sugar and enjoy!
Storage of Christmas Tree Tart
The tart can be stored at room temperature for a couple of days under a glass dome.
