Steps for Cookies with Colorful Heart
Let’s prepare the dough:
In a bowl, place the flour and add the butter. Start kneading with your hands until you get a sandy mixture. Add the sugar, egg, and egg white, salt, and the grated zest of a lemon. Create a nice soft and homogeneous dough, cut it in half, and color one part with red coloring. Put the dough in the fridge to rest for at least 40 minutes.
After the time has passed, roll out the red dough and cut out hearts with the cutter. Place them next to each other to form a train. If desired, brush each with egg white to keep them firmly in place. Meanwhile, while preparing the clear sheet, wrap the hearts in parchment paper and put them in the fridge.
Take the hearts, lay them on the sheet, and cover them well. Create a roll, wrap it in parchment paper, and then plastic wrap. Put it in the fridge to firm up for at least 4 hours.
Take the roll and cut the cookies, place them on a baking sheet, and bake in a static oven at 350°F (175/180°C) for about 8/10 minutes. Remove from oven and let them cool on a rack. Always refer to your own oven for cooking and temperature.
Enjoy and happy Valentine’s Day!
