Granola Gift Idea for Christmas

Granola Gift Idea is an original thought to give for Christmas, it is easily prepared without spending too much. A simple and healthy recipe, especially for a nutritious breakfast. A mix of crunchy cereals to which you can add your favorite dried fruit or even chocolate. To sweeten this mix, I used honey, but you can substitute it with maple syrup or agave syrup. Once ready, it stays fresh for at least 8 days, just put it in a glass container. To give that extra touch to your gift, you can choose a fancy jar or even a themed jar and then enrich it with Christmas ribbons, I am sure it will be a much-appreciated gift.

Did you know that the idea of granola was by John Harvey Kellogg, the inventor of Cornflakes? He thought of this food in 1878 by recoating whole flakes to encourage proper breakfast nutrition.

Granola Gift Idea Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups oats (whole grain)
  • 1/3 cup almonds
  • 1/3 cup walnuts
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (whole)
  • 2 tablespoons sunflower oil
  • 1/4 cup water

Granola Gift Idea Tools

  • 1 Pan
  • 1 Wooden Spoon
  • 1 Parchment Paper
  • 1 Baking Tray
  • 1 Spatula
  • Jars

Homemade Granola Steps

  • Before starting to prepare the granola, quickly wash the raisins, even a quick rinse is enough. As for the almonds and walnuts, I preferred to chop them coarsely, but they can also be left whole.

  • Pour the honey, water, brown sugar, and sunflower oil into a pan.

  • Put the pot on the stove over low heat and stir the mixture with a wooden spoon, now you can cook for at least 5 minutes, always mixing, in the end, you will have a thick syrup, but not too much.

  • Remove the pot from the heat and pour in the rolled oats, mixing them, then add the nut mix.

  • Mix well and add the cranberries and raisins, continuing to mix the ingredients.

  • Pour the granola onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper, arrange it well without overlapping. Now toast it in the oven at 338°F for about 30/35 minutes. Place the tray in the center of the oven, occasionally stir it with a wooden spoon, when it takes on a beautiful golden color, you can say it is ready.
Remember that the toasting time is indicative, so always adjust with your oven.
Before storing it in a glass jar, it must be completely cooled; finally, the most gluttonous can add chocolate chips, cocoa powder, or flavor with cinnamon.
Now dear friends, you can go wild in looking for the most beautiful jars and create original packages to give away… And enjoy the indulgence!

Storage and Variations of the Granola Gift Idea

The granola can be stored in airtight jars for a week. Perfect with yogurt and fresh fruit at breakfast, we can vary the dried fruit according to our tastes or add dark chocolate. A good idea to vary the recipe is also dehydrated coconut.
