The Jack Skellington Halloween cookies are inspired by the character from Nightmare Before Christmas, the wonderful animated film by Tim Burton. I find them perfect to prepare for the spookiest night of the year. They are really simple to make and you can do them with your kids, which will be really fun. A vanilla-flavored shortcrust pastry for a filling of jam, possibly even chocolate, and finally a delicious sugar glaze. The Jack Skellington cookies will win you over at the first bite.

Ingredients for Jack Skellington Halloween Cookies
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup butter (cold, cut into pieces)
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar (or up to 1 1/2 cups if needed)
- 1 egg white
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 jar jam (preferably cranberry, strawberry.)
- as needed dark chocolate (melted)

Steps for Jack Skellington Halloween Cookies
In a bowl, pour the flour and cold butter pieces, and start mixing with your hands. After creating a sandy mixture, add the whole egg, the yolk, powdered sugar, a pinch of salt, and vanilla extract.
Combine all the ingredients well and create a nice smooth dough, roll it out on a sheet of parchment paper, and leave it to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.After the time has passed, take our dough and cut out the cookies with a round cutter, using a piping tip to create eyes and nose. Remember that the cookies will be stacked, so only the top cookie should have eyes and nose cut out.
After preparing all the cookies, place them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and bake them in the oven at 340°F (170°C) for about 8/10 minutes; once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
In the meantime, prepare the glaze: in a bowl, pour the egg white and gradually add powdered sugar with a few drops of lemon juice, using a whisk to create a soft and smooth glaze.
Once ready, glaze only the cookies with eyes and nose cut out and let them dry.Take the unglazed cookie and spread jam on top, then stack the glazed cookie on top, now it’s time to create the mouth. Melt the dark chocolate, put it inside a piping bag and voilà, let the chocolate dry for a few minutes, now our Jack Skellington is ready to celebrate Halloween.
