Baked Caprese Tomatoes

Baked Caprese Tomatoes are a tasty appetizer or side dish, easy to make and very delicious.

Tomatoes baked in the oven stuffed with typical Mediterranean flavors and gooey mozzarella, very easy to make, with few ingredients, but very tasty and perfect to accompany meat, fish, or cheese dishes for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 4 tomatoes
  • 5.3 oz mozzarella
  • 2 cloves garlic (optional)
  • basil
  • oregano
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt

Preparation of Baked Caprese Tomatoes

  • If you decide to use garlic cloves, peel and chop them.
    Wash the tomatoes, dry them and slice them about half an inch thick.
    Line a baking dish with parchment paper and arrange the tomato slices evenly spaced.
    Drizzle them with a little extra virgin olive oil, salt, and a bit of chopped garlic.

  • Bake them in a preheated static oven at 356°F for fifteen minutes.
    Meanwhile, drain the mozzarella from its storage liquid and cut it into small pieces.
    After fifteen minutes of baking the tomatoes, remove them from the oven and distribute the mozzarella, a sprinkle of oregano, and some basil according to your taste.

  • Bake for another five to ten minutes, until the mozzarella has melted.
    Remove from the oven and serve your Baked Caprese Tomatoes.
