Ingredients
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- lemon juice (a few drops)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 oz butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- red gel food coloring
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 7 oz white chocolate
- strawberry jam
- shredded coconut
- colored sprinkles
Preparation of Christmas Truffles
Mix the milk, yogurt, and a few drops of lemon juice in a glass, cover it with plastic wrap and let the mixture rest for at least twenty minutes at room temperature.
After this time, in a large bowl, beat the softened butter cut into cubes with the sugar and vanilla extract.Add the egg, mixing it into the mixture, then incorporate the milk and yogurt mixture and red food coloring, adding enough to achieve a bright red mixture (the color will fade during baking, so don’t worry about overdoing it).
Finally, add the sifted flour, cocoa, and baking powder, mixing until you get a thick and homogeneous batter.
Pour it into a greased and floured eight-inch diameter cake pan and bake in a preheated static oven at 350°F for thirty minutes: before removing from the oven, do the toothpick test to check for doneness, which should come out dry when inserted into the cake.Let the cake cool completely, then crumble it into a bowl.
Add three to four tablespoons of jam and mix thoroughly until you get a uniform and pliable mixture.
Form balls and place them in the freezer for ten minutes.
Meanwhile, chop the white chocolate and melt it in a double boiler or microwave. After resting in the freezer, take the balls and dip them in the melted chocolate to coat them completely.
Drain them, place them well spaced on a tray lined with baking paper, and decorate with shredded coconut or colored sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
Let them firm up for ten minutes in the refrigerator and then serve your Christmas truffles.
