The crunchy pizza is a delicious Roman traditional pizza that is very easy to make.

It is an ultra-thin, hot, and crispy pizza made with few, simple ingredients, almost always available in the pantry, with a dough easy to make using just a bowl and spoon, perfect to replace bread or to eat in pieces to accompany an aperitif, or for a quick savory snack or brunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water (lukewarm)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp dry yeast
  • olive oil
  • salt

Preparation of Crunchy Pizza

  • Place the flour in a bowl and mix it with the yeast and sugar.
Make a well in the center and pour the lukewarm water gradually, stirring with a spoon, until all the water is incorporated and a homogeneous dough is obtained.

  • Add a scant teaspoon of salt and stir again until the dough is elastic, even if rather sticky.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for a couple of hours.

  • After this time, pour half of the dough at a time onto two baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
With well-oiled fingertips, start spreading the dough from the center to the edges gently, without puncturing it, until it forms a very thin layer.

  • Oil the surface of the pizzas and sprinkle with a little coarse salt.
Bake each crunchy pizza in a preheated, fan-assisted oven at 392°F for about fifteen minutes, until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and serve.
