Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 180 g sugar (+ additional sugar to sprinkle on the donut surface)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 packet baking powder

Preparation of the Donut with Sugar Crust

  • With an electric mixer, in a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy.
Without stopping the mixer, add the vanilla extract and then the vegetable oil.
Incorporate them and add the milk.

  • Finally, add the sifted flour and baking powder, still using the mixer.
Grease and flour a 9.5-inch diameter donut pan and pour the prepared batter into it.
Sprinkle the surface with plenty of granulated sugar and bake in a preheated static oven at 356°F (180°C) for thirty-five to forty minutes.

  • During baking, you may notice a lowering of the surface of the donut created by the weight of the sugar on top, but continue without opening the oven, and the donut will rise again.
Only after the first thirty minutes of baking, do the toothpick test, which will indicate, when it comes out dry from the donut with a sugar crust, that it is fully cooked.
Let it cool in the pan before gently transferring it to a serving plate and serving.
