Perfect to accompany a cup of milk, tea, coffee, or even liqueurs at the end of a meal, they have a very simple preparation process and keep for a long time.

Ingredients

  • 3.5 oz hazelnuts
  • 1.6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup sugar (plus extra for coating pastries before baking)
  • 6 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 vanilla pod (seeds)
  • Half packet baking powder

Preparation of Hazelnut Pastries

  • Finely chop the hazelnuts in a food processor.
    In a large bowl, whisk the egg with the sugar, seeds from a vanilla pod, vegetable oil, and milk until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.

  • Add the flour, chopped hazelnuts, and baking powder, and knead the mixture until smooth.
    Form a dough ball and wrap it in a sheet of plastic wrap.
    Let it rest in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
    After resting, place some sugar on a plate.

  • Form dough balls about the size of a cherry and roll them in the sugar to coat all sides, then place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, keeping them well spaced.
    Bake in a preheated static oven at 350°F for about fifteen minutes, until golden.
    Remove from the oven and let your hazelnut pastries cool on a wire rack before storing them in an airtight container or a tin box.
