Homemade Spreadable Cheese

Homemade spreadable cheese is a tasty cheese that is very easy to make.

With just two ingredients, like all homemade recipes, it allows us to use the freshest ingredients, suitable for taking into account any intolerances, such as using lactose-free products for those who are lactose intolerant. It is also possible to flavor the homemade spreadable cheese with herbs, nuts, olives, etc.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain natural yogurt
  • salt

Preparation of Homemade Spreadable Cheese

  • Put a quarter of a teaspoon of salt in the yogurt and mix thoroughly.
Take a bowl and put a clean cloth inside, shaping it to line the bowl.
Pour the “salted” yogurt into the cloth, then take the edges of the cloth and knot them, holding a wooden spoon between the knots, to create a bundle and be able to “lift” it using the spoon, and use the spoon itself to prevent the bundle from touching the bottom of the bowl.

  • Liquid will drip from the bundle: discard it and place the bowl in the refrigerator.
Check from time to time, discarding the liquid that accumulates in the bowl (it will be less and less, and you can check less frequently).
Keep the bowl in the refrigerator for a total of 24 hours until there is no more liquid.

  • Open the bundle and collect the obtained mixture: your homemade spreadable cheese!
Store it in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for a time equivalent to the expiration of the yogurt used to prepare it.
