Ingredients for Hot Coffee Cream
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 teaspoons cornstarch (or potato starch)
- 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- coffee (freshly made in a 3-cup moka pot)
- whipped cream
- unsweetened cocoa powder
Preparation
Prepare the coffee in the three-cup coffee maker.
Pour 1 cup of milk into a saucepan with two tablespoons of sugar and add the freshly made coffee.
Mix and bring to a boil over medium heat.Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine three teaspoons of cornstarch (or potato starch) with a teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and mix them.
Make a well in the center and gradually pour in the remaining 1/4 cup of milk, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. When the mixture in the saucepan reaches a boil, add the bowl mixture and continue stirring until the resulting mixture is thick.
Pour it into cups, add some whipped cream and a sprinkle of unsweetened cocoa powder, and serve your hot coffee cream immediately.
Notes
The hot coffee cream should be served immediately, very hot and freshly made, to maintain a dense but “liquid” consistency, otherwise, it will acquire an almost gelatinous consistency.
