Ingredients

  • 1.1 lbs pizza dough
  • 0.42 cup tomato sauce
  • 8.8 oz mozzarella
  • oregano
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt

Preparation of the Pizza Rose Cake

  • Drain the mozzarella from its preservation liquid, cut it into pieces, and pat it dry with a kitchen paper to dry it.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) in fan mode.
On a floured work surface, using a floured rolling pin, roll out the already leavened pizza dough into a thin rectangle about 8 x 12 inches.

  • In a small bowl, pour the tomato sauce and season it with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, oregano, and salt.
Line a springform cake pan, 7 to 8 inches in diameter, with a sheet of parchment paper.
With the help of a spoon, spread the seasoned tomato sauce on the rectangle of leavened dough and then distribute the mozzarella pieces over it.

  • Starting from the long side of the rectangle, tightly roll the dough until you get a cylinder.
With a smooth-bladed knife, cut slices about 1.2 inches thick.
Place them side by side in the cake pan until it is completely covered.

  • Bake for about half an hour, until the surface is golden and the mozzarella has melted.
Remove from the oven and let your pizza rose cake cool slightly before serving.
