Pizza swirls are a tasty and irresistible appetizer, very easy to prepare with few ingredients.

A quick finger food if made with ready-made and rolled-out pizza dough, available in the refrigerated section of supermarkets, simply to season, cut, and bake. Perfect for accompanying aperitifs, for a quick snack, to enrich the buffet of a party or for an informal dinner, alone or with company.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet pizza dough (ready-made)
  • 200 ml tomato sauce
  • 3.5 oz pizza mozzarella (shredded)
  • oregano
  • basil
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt

Preparation of Pizza Swirls

  • Put the tomato sauce in a small bowl and season it with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, a bit of oregano, some torn basil leaves, and a pinch of salt, mixing thoroughly.

  • Unroll the ready-made pizza dough.
    Spread the prepared sauce evenly on the surface.
    Sprinkle with shredded pizza mozzarella, then roll the dough over itself to form a cylinder.

  • Cut the cylinder into slices about one inch thick.
    Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the prepared pizza swirls on it.
    Bake them in a preheated static oven at 392°F for about twenty minutes.
    Remove from the oven and serve immediately, piping hot.
