Ingredients

  • 1 roll rectangular puff pastry
  • tomato puree
  • oregano
  • Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt
  • 1 egg yolk

Preparation of the Puff Pastry Wreath Centerpiece

  • Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into strips perpendicular to the longer side, about two fingers wide: you will have one last narrower strip, which you will set aside.
In a small bowl, put a few tablespoons of tomato puree, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt, and some oregano.

  • Mix and brush the mixture onto the puff pastry strips, except for the one set aside, and sprinkle them with plenty of grated cheese.
Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place a glass bowl in the center, 3 to 3.5 inches in diameter, with the opening facing down.
Roll up the stuffed strips starting from one of the shorter sides and place the rolls obtained along the edges of the bowl, side by side.

  • With the strip set aside, shape a bow and place it on the rolls.
Beat the egg yolk in another bowl with a little water and brush it first on the bow, then on the rolls.
Bake in a static oven at 428°F for about twenty minutes, until golden.
Remove from the oven, let it cool, and serve your puff pastry wreath centerpiece.
