Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup plain natural yogurt
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- red food coloring (gel)
- 1 packet baking powder
- powdered sugar (for decoration)
Preparing the Red Velvet Bundt Cake
Put the yogurt, milk, and vinegar in a bowl, mix them, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and let it sit at room temperature for about twenty minutes.
After this time, in a large bowl, put the sugar, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract and beat them with an electric mixer.
Add one egg at a time, continuing to mix with the mixer until you get a light and frothy mixture, then add the yogurt, milk, and vinegar mixture, mixing again with the mixer. Then add the red gel food coloring, one teaspoon at a time, continuing to mix with the electric mixer, until you get a bright red mixture (during baking, the color will fade, so don’t be afraid to add too much).
Finish by adding the sifted flour, baking powder, and cocoa, mixing again with the mixer on low speed until your mixture is creamy and homogeneous.
Grease and flour a 9 1/2-inch bundt cake pan and pour in the prepared mixture.Bake in a preheated static oven at 350°F for about fifty minutes, checking the doneness with the toothpick test not before at least thirty minutes from the start of baking, where the toothpick inserted into the cake should come out dry and clean.
When it’s done, remove your red velvet bundt cake from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan before transferring it to a tray or serving plate, sprinkle it with powdered sugar to taste and serve.
