Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (+ extra for coating the cookies)
  • 1/4 cup rum

Preparation of Rum Twists

  • Mix the flour and sugar in a large bowl and make a well in the center.
Pour in the rum and softened butter cut into pieces and knead thoroughly, until you have a smooth and soft dough.
Shape it into a loaf, wrap it in plastic wrap, and let it rest in the refrigerator for half an hour.

  • After the resting time, divide the dough into pieces of about 15 g and roll each piece into a rope about 5 inches long.
Twist the two ends of the ropes to form drops and press them gently to seal them together.
Place some brown sugar on a small plate and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Roll the cookies in brown sugar, covering them on both sides, and arrange them on the sheet without overlapping.
Bake in a preheated static oven at 390°F for ten to fifteen minutes, until golden.
Remove your rum twists from the oven, let them cool completely on a wire rack, and store them in tin boxes or airtight containers.
